What To Expect

Guest Info

Meadow View Baptist Church is a Christian church that follows the bible as the authority for our lives. Our music and message are up to date and our people are all ages and many different nationalities. We place a high value on families, and we genuinely welcome anyone to be part of our church family. Our goal is to connect with God in real and supernatural ways and to love and serve our community and by showing our love and care, we show people we are Christians.

First time here?

We hope to see you soon for your first time as a guest at Meadow View Baptist Church. If you’d like to get along to one of our services, you will be most welcome! Check here for directions to the church location.

What to expect at our services
We understand that you may have a few questions about Meadow View Baptist Church in making your decision whether or not to visit in person. Here are some questions we are commonly asked about our services.

1. Where and when do you meet?
Our main gatherings are every Sunday 11am at our church on the corner of Stanley Street and Pascoe Vale Road, Glenroy. Check here for service times. We have a bible study and prayer meeting every Thursday night at the church starting at 7pm. We also have a youth program that meets on the last Friday night of the month.

2. What should I wear?
Most dress fairly casually but neatly to reflect that we value meeting together with one another and honouring God.

We are more concerned about you being comfortable and relaxed than the clothes you wear. Many members of Meadow View Baptist spend their working week in suits and ties and as such prefer to dress more casually on Sundays. Of course, if you do want to wear a suit or your “Sunday best”, feel free but it is certainly not required.

3. What do you do?
We believe your relationship with God is important. While “religion” often carries a connotation of robes, holy water and a pipe organ, you will not find those at Meadow View Baptist Church.  We endeavour to present our church services in a creative and fresh way that encourages you on your journey to know God.

Our services are a blend of traditional and contemporary music led by a dedicated music team.

If you have children, our Kid’s Church will ensure they are well looked after and have a fun time (see question 7 below).

We celebrate the Lord’s Table on the first Sunday of each month. This is simply a time to remember the sacrifice of Christ by taking bread and wine (grape juice). Any person who genuinely believes that Christ died for them and has decided to follow Jesus can share the Table with us. If you are not a Christian, there is no embarrassment to not take the bread and wine and only observe this beautiful part of the service.

Our services also include an opportunity to give financially, which we call tithes and offerings. Make sure you read the next question…

We may also include an opportunity for anyone who would like to begin their journey to being a Christian. A Christian is simply a follower of Christ. Please read question 6 for more in this regard.

4. Do I have to give money?
Giving tithes and offerings is for those who are part of the Meadow View Baptist Church family, and it is something we love to do as a reflection of our love for God and His church.

You are our guests. If you wish to give, you may, but there is complete freedom to abstain from giving if you are not comfortable with that.

5. What is the music like?
At Meadow View Baptist Church we enjoy a variety of music. We sing traditional hymns, praise and worship songs and children’s songs each Sunday; each song glorifying our Lord. While we value our Christian heritage, which includes songs from the centuries before, we appreciate that different people like different types of music. The songs we sing are based on Scripture and we encourage everyone to reflect on the words of the hymn or song.

Our music ensemble is made up of skilled musicians and a vocalist who lead the church with passion. You will enjoy this time in the service!

6. Do I have to do anything?
You are our valued guest. Please sit back, relax and enjoy your time with us. Usually, a host or hostess will assist you with seating, answer questions and show you where the amenities are located. After the service, if you can, please stay on for a few minutes to enjoy a coffee or tea, light refreshments. We will give you a free information pack. If you are happy to let us take your details we will keep in touch with you about church events or information that will be relevant and of assistance to you. If you are not comfortable with leaving details that’s fine too.

In some of our services we will provide the opportunity for people to begin the journey to become a Christian. A Christian is simply a follower of Christ. At the end of most services, we will invite anyone that would like to begin this journey to indicate their decision by raising their hand. We will pray with you inviting Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and come into your life. If you have made that commitment for the first time, we will give you some literature and encourage you to continue your journey in coming to know Christ by meeting with a Christian friend or mentor to encourage you

7. What about my kids?
If you have kids, we have a great program that run through the services.

Each Sunday during school terms, kids in primary school age join our team of enthusiastic Kid’s Church workers for lots of fun, laughs, interactive games and bible-based lessons. All our workers are certified and follow safety protocols to ensure children left in our care are safe. If you have any questions or need directions, please ask one of our hosts and they will be glad to help. We also have a creche for toddlers where leaders will look after your children in a professional manner.

8. How long does the service go for?
We appreciate that Sundays are a valuable day in your week. All of our services are 1 1⁄2 hours or less.

In the unusual event we are required to go later than expected, please feel free to quietly leave the auditorium — we will not be offended.

9. Do I need a Bible or anything?
All you need is you!

We believe in the Bible and our speakers use it as the foundation for teaching. If you have a Bible and would like to bring it, please feel free. In saying that, if you do not have a Bible and would like one, please ask one of our hosts and they will give you a Bible at no cost as a memento of your visit with Meadow View Baptist Church which we encourage you to read.

The Bible is a holy text broken into different books, with each book having different chapters and each chapter having different verses. If you have not read the Bible before, we suggest you read the book of Luke first — it is one of the four “gospels” (being Matthew, Mark, Luke & John) written describing the life of Christ. If you’d like to know more about becoming a follower of Christ, speak to the pastor or deacon.
